Biking on Hilton Head Island
Biking is a popular past time on Hilton Head Island, the beautiful weather, scenery and miles of bike paths make it easy to spend an afternoon learning the island and seeing the sights. My daughter likes to ride TO something (god forbid that we should ride bikes to get exercise!), some of her favorite bike rides are to Coligny (shopping is always an incentive for a teenager), to Harbourtown (especially for ice cream) and to South Beach Marina, home of the Salty Dog. My husband and I also enjoy riding to the Sea Pines Beach Club and taking the trail through the Sea Pines Forest Preserve.
There are some important things to remember when biking on the island: cars have the right of way,
please obey the bike path stop signs
please use the bike paths, the town has invested a lot of money to provide the bike paths for your safe enjoyment
please remember to alert the people ahead of you when you are going to pass them, a simple ”passing on your left” will keep you from startling someone
